MSM headed by Kirk Nelson is truly the contact for all your musical needs. An active composer and producer he started his own music production company Finger Painted Music in 1993 and joined BMI. FPM remains as the publishing arm of Main Source Music today.
"We do contract as a work for hire but some budgets do not allow the 'purchase' of the music." mentions Kirk, "In addition to our current library we can produce a 'new' track with some of the best musicians in the world. We help keep our services affordable by requiring only a nominal license fee with deferred compensation from performance and mechanical royalties."
They are also one of the few places left that can re-create vintage songs to sound like the original. "I first experienced doing sound alikes in the early eighties when I worked at Paramount Recording and we did a bunch for Happy Days. Since then we've done 'recreations' from Tom Petty to Norah Jones" Says "Captain" Kirk, as his friends call him. He is also a performing musician when he is not in the studio. (See Calendar).
